Spanish 1 Cultural Assessment The Future Of Quechua Language Planning.
Question Description
Overview
Cultural Assessment
“Languages play a crucial role in the daily lives of people, not only as a tool for communication, education, social integration and development, but also as a repository for each person’s unique identity, cultural history, traditions and memory. But despite their immense value, languages around the world continue to disappear at an alarming rate.” (UNESCO 2018). With this in mind UN declared 2019 as The Year of Indigenous Languages. We join this celebration through a cultural assessment.
Objective – increase knowledge of indigenous languages in Latin America and Australia. Through this you will learn about the history, culture, politics of that particular language and the meanings it holds for the Indigenous speakers of that language.
As a cultural assessment you are required to create a poster, photography or a painting (or other medium approved by the coordinator of this course) which demonstrates the history, culture, politics of that particular language and the meanings it holds for the Indigenous speakers of that language.
You need to write a 500 word composition explaining the meaning behind the art work you have chosen. For instance, explain why you used that particular creative tool/medium, how/why the particular photo represents an Indigenous Language, tell us about its history, culture, etc.
The explanation is to be written in English or Spanish, and must be typed and double spaced. Remember: this assessment is a creative writing. However, if you use sources from books or the internet you MUST cite all sources and present a bibliography. If you fail to do so you will be penalised as you will be committing plagiarism.
Useful criteria:
